Description:
Focuses on educating and supporting families to be the best parents they can be. Works with families from pregnancy until the child is linked to the school system (up to age 5).
Services are provided to pregnant women, their partners and infants to age 5.
Services begin during pregnancy or within 3 months after the baby's birth. The focus of HFP is supporting new or expectant parents and promoting positive parent-child interaction through home visits by Family Support Specialists and Specialty staff including Nurses, Counselors and Father Services.
The "Growing Great Kids" curriculum is used during regular home visiting.
HFP is accredited by Healthy Families America.
Hours:
Hours of Operation - General Business Hours for Pinellas Park, St. Petersburg, Mid County & Largo Health Departments: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (Please note that some programs have specific hours of operation other than general business hours).
Intake Process:
Women and babies are screened at their prenatal care provider's offices and birthing hospital for risk factors. A Family Resource Specialist interviews the family and determines eligibility. Once the family is enrolled, a Family Support Specialist visits weekly for the first six months. Home visiting services may continue to the child's 5th birthday.

There are no fees associated with the services.
Languages:
Parenting education materials are provided in English and in Spanish. Spanish speaking home visitors are available.
Eligibility:
To be eligible to receive Healthy Families services, a participant must reside in Pinellas County, be pregnant or have a baby less than 3 months old, be assessed by Healthy Families and voluntarily agree to accept a referral for home visiting services. There are no age or income criteria. Services are for pregnant women and families with newborns who may be at risk for child abuse and neglect.
